"El Tema" Series: Environmental Documentary Night

El Tema is a six-part documentary short series that explores the key issues of Mexico's climate crisis through the stories and experiences of environmental activists, academics, human rights defenders, Indigenous communities, and civil society organizations. Actor, producer, and director Gael García Bernal and writer and linguist Yásnaya Águilar weave these stories together while reflecting on the impact of each environmental challenge.

Each documentary is set in natural ecosystems and landscapes threatened by the climate crisis across different regions of the country. The series focuses on six themes: Water in Chihuahua, Air in Monterrey, Coal in Coahuila, Oceans in Cozumel, Energy in Tabasco, and Food in Chapala. Every episode highlights a specific environmental issue while bringing together different perspectives, strategies, and actions to imagine a future in which climate action becomes an integral part of Mexico's political agenda.
